About

Carol Gildar has combined her love for color, design, and texture to create unique jackets, one of a kind handpainted silk scarves, prayer shawls, and original paintings in watercolor, pastel and acrylic medium. She has been greatly influenced by interpretations of Asian, floral and nature motifs.

She grew up in Pennsylvania, where she discovered her love of sewing and painting from her mother and grandmother. Carol graduated from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, and pursued her creative career at Scholastic Publishing in New York City for many years before relocating to the Chicago area with her husband.

Carol has traveled extensively and always finds inspiration for her creativity, wherever she goes. She is a member of the Art Center of Highland Park, the Needlearts Guild of Chicago, and has won honors and awards at: the National Academy of Design in New York City, a juried show in China, and the College of Lake County in Illinois. She has also adapted her talents to silk painting and surface design, and participates in shows throughout the year, including the Chicago Botanic Garden Fiber Show.

Carol maintains a studio in Illinois. Her creations are in private collections throughout the United States and internationally. Her work can be viewed on her websites at:
